Well - I didn't keep that blog up very well....but...5 weeks today I shall be enjoying the delights of Antigua, and so have to be really firm with a bit more exercise to wear away the lumps and bumps that have accumulated over the winter!

More reading prep for Wine Course which starts on Friday.

Boys home - visits to Gran - P cooks dinner in the evening. No exercise other than walking into town to get some bread!

Sunday 29th Jan
We go down to Surrey to Mercedes world for a day of driving experiences. Very well organised. Quite challenging driving. Found out what we knew already that P doesn't listen to what is being said to him - can't take direction! Nice spending time with them. Dropped Nick off at Weybridge Stn, then J drove home from here for his last 2 days at Dudley Hospital.

Nick learning how to brace oneself in a upside down car...

And a couple of silly mercs - amongst all the shiny cars on display!

Thursday 26th Jan

Wake up to rain, but back feeling a lot easier. Shall I go to Yoga later on? Yoga abandoned as I wanted the fresh air option!

The sun came out and we decided to make the most of it and headed up to Stowe - which I had been wanting to explore for some time..http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/stowe/

Absolutely stunning landscaped grounds - pics to follow when I have worked out how to get them off my camera - need a new computer so I can use my iCloud.

The house was having tours at 2pm - but we decided that we'd save that to another time, and enjoy the sunshine. pace slow as we had to keep stopping for Ps photos!

BTW - these are my photos on the iPhone - hence a bit crooked!

Wednesday 25th Jan

Feeling weary, need some sunshine, and washing machine finally dies.....its been making odd noises since before Christmas - good job Chiltern Domestic booked for this afternoon!

Walk to and from Pilates, where she insists that I don't do some exercises due to back issues...frustrating, but she is sensible.

Turn up for Library duties, 2 other ladies there so I return home to deal with washing machine man - more important. Turns out its brushes are worn out - replaced  £106.50! Still, cheaper than a new machine.

Back agony. I wish someone would wave a magic wand over it - thinking of exploring Reiki!

Looking forward to a nice Rex evening with C and S - P photomasterclassing...The Help - lots of Oscar nominations, so will be interesting...

It was good - though a bit long. Powerful story....happy ending!

Monday 23rd Jan

Decide to get some fresh air so walk to post office and paper shop - nice to get fresh air..

Av pace figure distorted by queue in PO and chat to Mrs Papershop. Flat walk - but good thinking time.

Have passed on my Chelsea V Man Utd ticket.
Sat 21st/Sun 22nd Jan

Saturday off to Wolves with I and S - meeting up S's friend A along the way. Nice day - long journey shoved in the back of A's Saab. Wolves lost, but 5 goals so entertaining match.

Sunday - bit weary so pottered around, caught up with offspring. P continued with middle bedroom decorating - finished now I hope! I and J invited us round to share their Sunday Chicken - nice evening.

Back issues rumbling on. Can't work out whether exercise is good or bad for it  :-((

Friday 20th Jan

Morning full of regular domestic issues, and Waitrose.

P decorating middle bedroom, ex his study, then birthplace of LBD, then his study, then junk room for extension build. Chequered history - but he pleased to have filled in the cracks.

Lit the fire and spent the afternoon doing reading prep for Feb wine course.

Ian popped in for a cuppa - nice chat.

No exercise - back sore - think it maybe dying nerves!

Thursday 19th Jan

Rain clears so take a long walk round Amersham to pay in P's chq.

Pleased that I have increased pace without causing further back strain  - lesson learnt - pushing old people round hospitals not the best thing!

Yoga - 90 mins of peace! Lovely grounding 'session' sorting out earth chakra! Made me pee a lot!

Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker with C and S.
Lovely dinner and catch up  - parked in same spot as last year.
Liked the ballet but not as exciting as Cinderella last year. P enjoyed it so that's a bonus.
Met their friend A in the bar, who was there with a Matthew Bourne fan. A is also the mother of the Technical Manager at Sadlers Wells, so we got invited backstage after the show. It is the 3rd largest stage in London - and is very HIGH!

Wednesday 18th Jan

Back rumbled away all night - but am determined to do pilates to try and stretch it out.

Made it - had a lecture from pilates lady re lifting things, and letting it relax, heat pads etc..

Did LC Library in the afternoon - what a good selection of books, but sad that so few people came in. Must be the January effect!
Back getting easier - great relief!
Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th Jan

Frustrating and disappointing.

Back in spasm. Can only assume its a reaction to pushing a 12 st man around in a wheelchair, and the stress of the past week. Resort to mega doses ibuprofen and tiger balm.

On the plus side, cholesterol, whilst high at 6.4 is full of good cholesterol, so my chol/HDL =2.1 which is apparently good. No action required.

Sheila is happy with new GP and is told she can drive again - good!

Sunday, 15 January 2012

Sunday 15th Jan

Beautiful sunny morning so decide to walk to Chalfont to help S change the beds.

Saturday 14th Jan

Stood down from care services - did shopping etc.
Took an Indian dinner over to Winters - lots of nice chat - young people came and ate leftovers. Lovely evening - good to see J looking much better.
No excercise  :-(

Friday 13th Jan

Lived up to its reputation!

Blood test first thing (me) - checking cholesterol in case of hereditary coronary issues!

Next 6 hrs sorting out oldies - S had had a bad night with pain - all fine: probs a result of the hospital fall. Dennis wanted to get his head lumps removed - all sorted. 2 separate visits to the surgery.

When I suggested to him that maybe now they might get some help - his comment was 'We can manage perfectly well on our own thank you!'. Pretty ripe after what I have been doing over the past 6 days - old people!!

Pub supper at the Blue Ball in Asheridge with I and J, and their friends A and T. Looking forward to it!

Thursday, 12 January 2012

Thursday 12th Jan

Check up oldies OK and take soup and sausage rolls to ensure nutrition up to scatch!

Walk 60 mins with A round Amersham catching up on family stuff.

90 mins Yoga with Russell - good to be back!

Wednesday 11th Jan

Call parents to check still alive. They are - weary but breathing.

Walk 30mins, Pilates 60 mins, walk 30mins. Lovely sunny morning, and excellent pilates session stretching out the back.

J pops round for coffee.

Spend time sorting out finances, etc after the build and xmas. Still solvent!

Pay visit to oldies, do 'good works' in LC library - quite interesting today as a bit busier. Pop back to oldies with books and arnica for S.

Tuesday 10th January

Hygenist for me and repatriation of Sheila. Why does everything in hospital take so very long?!

'My week with Marilyn' in the evening at the Rex with C and P.

Absolutely delightful after the frantic last couple of days - love to see it again.

Monday, 9 January 2012

Monday 9th January

Pre hospital walk round the Amershams - unseasonably mild - nice to get some fresh air!
Nothing more motivating than time spent on a cardiac ward!
No running, back still tender.
Spoke with Yoga master - will go back to Thursday classes (gentler) - full moon today is energising!

Sunday, 8 January 2012

Sunday 8th January

Planned exercise = zero!

Phone call from S at 7.15am - severe chest pains - day spent in Wycombe calming her and wheeling D around in wheelchair.

No +ve diagnosis- we left at 5pm, to return tomorrow when the Drs have had a think. Oh dear.

+ve aspect D accepting that a wheelchair is fine and he got lots of attention, and back not too bad after wheeling a 12stone man around all day!

Will try and get out tomorrow before hospital duties commence!

Saturday, 7 January 2012

Saturday 7th January

Haircut - what a relief.

Did usual walk round the block - lovely to get some fresh air at last after a week of cars, indoors, hospitals etc.

Wore Garmin - thanks to Garmin Mentor S it worked fine. Downloaded results - all very exciting, but can't do the final step of pasting onto blog, so will paste link.....http://connect.garmin.com/activity/139584835#
P says this won't work as viewer wont be logged in!

Anyway, it was slow for obvious reasons, but just a few twinges.Good.

However, N has now been promoted to Senior IT Support and talked me through 'embedding'! He has done this now on his blog too. Result!!

Friday 6th January 2012

The day after denervation procedure, and hopefully the start of a life with reduced back pain. Bit groggy - diazepam and propafol hangover, back bruised, but no usual back pain. Allowed to be a couch potato for today - according to Dr C.

The blog will now be an exercise blog, to shame me into getting fitter!

Just printed off and downloaded Couch to 5K programme as recommended by my PT S! Pinned it on my noticeboard - its a start!
